MSI DFAT Continues to Lead in Spacecraft Acoustic Testing in Europe
MSI DFAT has a longstanding presence and a robust portfolio of customers throughout Europe, where we have become a trusted partner in spacecraft acoustic testing. As we continue our journey within the European space industry, MSI DFAT eagerly anticipates the upcoming ECSSMET conference. This year, we're proud to feature several highly technical presentations by our in-house thought leaders, as well as highlight the work of our highly esteemed partners and friends from SIEMENS DI SW, Thales and Airbus.
Dr. Alberto Garcia de Miguel of SIEMENS DI SW will present on "Analysis of the Vibro-Acoustic Interaction in Direct Field Acoustic Noise Tests via Optical Measurement Techniques."
Mr. Umberto Musella of SIEMENS DI SW will discuss "Adopting Direct Field Acoustic Noise Testing Technology for the Replication of Directional Acoustic Fields: Challenges and Results."
Dr. Bart Peeters of SIEMENS DI SW will present on "Using Direct-Field Acoustic Test Data for Operational Modal Analysis of the PROBA-V Satellite."
Mr. Christophe Fabries of Thales will discuss "Direct Field Acoustic Noise Test - Power versus Control Strategy."
Dr. Alessandro Carrella of MSI DFAT EU Srl will present on "Validation of Vibroacoustic Analysis of a 3D Structure with DFAT."
A new special paper co-authored by Umberto Musella and Alex Carrella 🤫
We look forward to sharing our latest advancements in DFAN Testing at the conference. The European Conference on Spacecraft Structures, Materials and Environmental Testing (ECSSMET) aims to foster discussion and exchange of experience within the mechanical engineering community, focusing on topics related to spacecraft structures, materials, and environmental testing.

MSI DFAT on Off-Nominal Podcast (Episode 162)
In other news... 😉
Jake and Anthony from the Of-Nominal Podcast were recently joined by Logan and Alan from MSI DFAT to talk about blasting satellites and spacecraft with sound waves.

Reflections on Small Satellite (SmallSat) Conference 2024
Last week, we wrapped up the SmallSat in Logan, Utah (...not to be confused with the other SmallSat conference in California) 😉
MSI DFAT was proud to sponsor coffee!
Since the conference has compounded in attendance year over year, SmallSat in 2025 has outgrown the town of Logan and will be held instead in Salt Lake City.
Here is the highlight reel (and why you should come out to SLC in 2025!):
That's all for now, folks! See you at ECSSMET!
P.S... Launching things into space?
