🚀 OMG!! What is OMA?! Operational Modal Analysis (OMA) is a technique used to identify the modal parameters (natural frequencies, damping, and mode shapes) of a structure or object during its operational conditions. "Operational Modal Analysis" using the acoustic energy from Direct Field Acoustic Testing (DFAT®) was first performed between MSI DFAT in collaboration with Siemens Digital Industries Software. Since then, other copycat companies have tried to adapt our proven approach for operational modal analysis.
Here is a video demonstration to see for yourself how easily and quickly we can transform time-measured data from the acoustic test into mode shapes in under a minute on one of Thales Alenia Space's antenna units.
OMG! Check out the OMA workflow in Siemens Simcenter Testlab software.
We also had the pleasure of hearing Bart Peeters' recent presentation at IMAC in Florida (check out this published paper for more details 😉): https://www.linkedin.com/posts/msi---dfat-services-llc_oma-of-satellites-using-dfat-data-activity-7300166715437371392-K53J?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_desktop&rcm=ACoAAAuzankB1iOY1O6-Ug50Q4L3uCoFsMH-V3I
For those interested in diving deeper into the pros/cons and theory/application of the OMA approach, here's a fantastic article on this topic from Siemens' "Testing Knowledge Base":
